The Connecticut Council of Family Service Agencies (CCFSA) has a unique opportunity in the Screening Connecticut’s Youth (SCY) program.
What is the Screening Connecticut’s Youth (SCY) Program?
The SCY program was developed to screen children ages 4-17 throughout CT for early detection of mental health and trauma issues, and if needed, refer them to behavioral health services. It is an innovative, early intervention approach designed to address mental health concerns to prevent greater difficulties later in life.
Job Summary
The SCY Program Community Engagement Consultant (CEC) is responsible for conducting outreach throughout the state of Connecticut to provide education and information about the SCY program, the prevalence and impact of mental health and trauma issues, as well as the importance of mental health and trauma screenings for youth and timely access to care as a means of preventing long-term, downstream consequences, reducing stigma, and increasing awareness of signs and symptoms as well as available services within the state.
The SCY CEC will engage families directly, as well as youth-serving organizations, schools, health providers, and other relevant stakeholders, through a variety of means, including in-person, phone, and virtual.
The CEC will work closely with the Communications Manager to develop social media, as well as other marketing efforts, to raise awareness and educate the public at large about mental health and trauma issues for youth about the SCY program.
The CEC will work closely with the SCY Program Manager and Director to plan community-based events to educate CT’s families and child-serving organizations, and to support the screening of children by the SCY Community Health Workers.
REPORTS TO: Administratively to the CCFSA Communications Manager
TIME ALLOCATION: 100% SCY Program. Approximately 18 hours/week including non-traditional hours to attend community outreach activities; hybrid – virtual and in-person
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: N/A
COMPENSATION:
$35/hour/18 hours per week
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma; BA/BS preferred and 1+ years of experience in in sales, marketing, or event planning
Experience in Microsoft Office tools, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Comfortable speaking and presenting to large groups
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to structure own workload and environment, working both independently and as a team member
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
Access to a reliable vehicle for regular travel within the state of CT.
Due to the hybrid nature of the position, at home Internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
